Even if you are a solo adventurer, you’d like to eventually settle down and sit back and relax with a beverage and a hotdog cooked on a cast iron griddle.

When I’m stocking my camping kitchen, the most important part of my camping gear is the mug. (It’s because I’m addicted to coffee, but please don’t tell anyone.) And so, I wanted to find the best camping mug or camping cup for my needs, and I hope this helps you in your next journey and finding the best camping mug for your need. The EcoVesel DOUBLE BARREL Double Wall Insulated Stainless Steel Beer and Coffee Mug is a large insulated mug that’s perfect for both hot and cold drinks. It keeps drinks cold for up to 36 hours and hot for up to eight. It is made of two layers of 18/8 steel – all metal – with no plastic parts.

The mug holds up to 16 ounces without lid, but with lid it’s best to only fill it with around 12 ounces of liquid. This camping cup is also dishwasher safe, so cleaning your hydration reservoir is a breeze.

The FinessCity Camp Mug is an all titanium mug. The handle folds for storage, and it has measurement markers along the inside. It is not insulated, but it has a titanium body that can easily place in boiling water and withstand the heat. However, it will naturally discolor due to being made from titanium.

This camping cup is corrosion resistant, eco-friendly, dishwasher safe, 100% Food grade titanium with bacterial inhibition. It’s just a durable and very light little cup at around 2.5 ounces. It holds around 15.8 ounces of liquid.

CUTICATE Stainless Steel Double Walled Mug

The CUTICATE Stainless Steel Double Walled Mug is an inexpensive and easy-to-transport mug. The carabiner clip handle is a nice addition, especially if you’re moving a lot and want to just hook it to the side of your backpack. The only problem is that it might fall off if it catches on a passing branch. The screws of the carabiner need to be tightened regularly, so keep a screwdriver on hand so you don’t lose your mug!

This camping cup does have double walled insulation and is made of durable stainless steel. There are three different carabiner colored handles. For the price tag, this is a great camping mug that will hold your drinks without financial strain.

ME.FAN Silicone Collapsible Travel Cup

The ME.FAN Silicone Collapsible Travel Cup comes in a set of four cups with lids, making it great if you need multiple mugs at once. They have a large variety of colors and color schemes. You can fill at 9.22 ounces, but it would be best to only fill up to six ounces because you don’t want to spill. They have an unusual convex design, which is very stylish. Surprisingly, despite the bottom being thinner than the top, it sets quite well without easily tipping over.

The cups have an insulation that claims -40 to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. But I think these camping cups work better with cold than hot liquids. That is because they don’t have handles, but do have a small nylon rope tethered to mug for carrying. 

They are silicone, so very lightweight, and collapsible to only a depth of 0.59 inches. That means you can collapse them and they can fit in a pocket. They are made of food-grade silicone with a stainless steel rim, and a plastic lid.

YETI Rambler 14 oz Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug

The YETI Rambler Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug is a larger mug that will have no problem holding any of your drinks. This is the heaviest mug on this list. This camping cup does come with a lid, but it is not entirely spill-proof.

This is a sturdy, double-walled, stainless steel at 18/8 grade steel mug. The vacuum insulation makes it sweat free. It is dishwasher safe and rust resistant. The thick gauge stainless steel is so sturdy they give a five-year warranty with their mug.

The YETI even has over 11 color choices with its very simple design, so it’s very easy to personalize.

Important Camping Mug Features to Consider

When looking for a camping coffee mug, you need to think about the features that you want most. Everyone is going to look for something different in a mug, so take into consideration where you’ll be taking it, how much you’ll be relying on it and so on.

Here are some more things to take into consideration when choosing a camping coffee mug.

Weight

Of course, you’re going to have to tote your mug with you through the woods with all your other camping utensils, so lighter is always better. However, when you prioritize a light mug, you don’t get some of the great features that heavier mugs offer. Would you rather have a smaller, lighter mug or a heavier, bigger mug?

Size

How much a camping coffee mug holds is extremely important. Whether it’s your morning coffee or water throughout the day, you want it to hold your preferred amount to avoid dehydration. How much do you normally drink at once, and how often will you be able to refill your mug?

I have other criteria for my own personal wants and needs, and that is that I have small hands. Practicality

I think the carabiner added to the Life Gear mug is a nice addition if you want to be practical, but then the ME.FAN mug also has the nylon tether. One is double-walled stainless steel and the other Food grade silicone. The Life Gear mug needs a little extra effort out of the box to make it usable, whereas the ME.FAN does not.

Conclusion

After thoroughly reviewing everything on this list, I can say that my favorite is definitely the EcoVesel DOUBLE BARREL Double Wall Insulated Stainless Steel Beer and Coffee Mug. EcoVessel really put out a great mug with this one. Between the insulation that ensures your drink isn’t going to get lukewarm for hours and the lid that prevents links, this one has me sold when it comes to a great camping mug.

When I’m out on the trails, this mug is always the one that comes with me to help me stay hydrated. Even though it may be a bit bigger and bulkier than the others on the list, it’s just too convenient not to use. The pros very easily outweigh the cons, and this is by far my favorite in terms of the best camping mug.
